LaLumiere will return as reigning champs to Geico Nationals Tournament

The LaLumiere boys basketball team is once again among the 8 U.S. high school teams selected to play in the Geico High School Basketball Nationals Tournament in New York City. In 2017 LaLumiere was tournament champion.

Live coverage of all games will be aired on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU March 29-31.

Seven of the top 11 ranked teams in the nation will participate, including the top four. The independent schools invited are all past winners: Montverde Academy (Fla.), Oak Hill (Va.), Findlay Prep (Nev.), and 2017 champion LaLumiere (Ind.). The other four boys teams in the field all won their respective state championships: University School (Fla.), Shadow Mountain (Ariz.), Garfield (Wash.) and Lone Peak (Ut.).

The three-day, single-elimination tournament begins Thursday, March 29, at noon ET with quarterfinals on ESPNU, and continues Friday, March 30, with semifinals (3 p.m. & 5 p.m., ET on ESPN2). The tournament culminates Saturday, March 31, with the boys championship game at noon ET on ESPN.

LaLumiere had a 23-3 record in 2017-18. Pat Holmes is the coach and ranked players are No. 99 senior Tyger Campbell and No. 13 junior Isaiah Stewart

After an overtime tip-in buzzer-beater loss to Oak Hill in the 2016 finals, LaLumiere broke through and won its first title in 2017, defeating Montverde Academy in the finals.

In the quarterfinal March 29, LaLumiere will play Findlay Prep at 2 p.m. EST on ESPNU.
