April 13, 1918 — LaPorte raises $700,000, over its quota, for the third issue of wartime Liberty Bonds.

April 13, 1968 — President Johnson, his face revealing the strain of two weeks of world-shaking events, takes time out for an Easter weekend rest at the LBJ ranch.

April 13, 1993 — La Lumiere School, a four-year college preparatory school off Wilhelm Road, marks its 30th anniversary this year.

April 13, 2008 — A forensic anthropologist is investigating the notorious Belle Gunness murders. The exhumation of the bodies of Belle’s children is tentatively scheduled for May.
