April 16, 1918 — LaPorte gives a welcome to the Great Lakes Military Band. At 1:30 the school children, public and parochial, with the high school cadets and citizens, follow the line of march downtown.

April 16, 1968 — An audience of 1,000-2,000 shows up at the superior courthouse in Michigan City to see Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and hear him speak.

April 16, 1993 — A state trooper who searched the area where Rayna Rison’s jacket was found says the jacket was not there the day before it was discovered.

April 16, 2008 — The LaPorte School Board adopts a redistricting option. Thirty-five students will move from Kingsbury Elementary to Kingsford Heights Elementary this fall.
