Let’s hear it for our county’s volunteer firefighters.

On a hot, dry and windy Tuesday, May 1, 2018, squads responded to two major fires. One resulted in a man’s death (see story on this same page). One resulted in the rescue of several pets.

Center Township volunteer firefighters, with assistance from Coolspring Township volunteer firefighters, were able to save two dogs and two cats from a house fire at 1657 N. Circle View Lane in the Crestview subdivision off CR 150 North.

The rear of the home and the roof in that area of the structure were engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.
