May 18, 1918 — June fifth has been set for the military registration of all young men who have attained the age of 21 since the last registration day.

May 18, 1968 — A 17-year-old boy admits to 19 burglaries in LaPorte, according to Gene Christian, city police chief of detectives.

May 18, 1993 — Handley Elementary School Principal Steve Bayer reads to students from the school’s roof dressed like a granny because the students met their book-reading challenge.

May 18, 2008 — Three South Central High School students are killed when their pickup truck strikes a passing train on CR-250W near CR-1650S.
