June 7, 1918 — LaPorte’s Ove Gnatt Co. purchased the Kouts Willow Furniture & Basket Co. The factory will soon be moved to LaPorte.

June 7, 1968 — Mourners eight abreast in line pass Robert F. Kennedy’s closed coffin at a rate of 5,000 an hour and say a sad farewell.

June 7, 1993 — The Supreme Court lets stand a lower court ruling that allows student-led prayers at public school commencement ceremonies in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

June 7, 2008 — Retiring LaPorte High School teachers John Shei and Richard Stokes reflect on their time in the classroom.
