UPDATE: Johnson Road repaving will be done in 2 phases; 1st phase starts June 18 from U.S. 35 to 300 North

Local sources have issued a few more details about the Johnson Road repaving project:

“Beginning Monday morning, June 18, road construction crews will begin the Johnson Road resurfacing project. The project will be completed in two phases. Phase 1 will be from U.S. 35 to CR 300 North. Phase 2 will be from CR 300 North to the area of U.S. 20.

“In the active construction zones, Johnson Road will be limited to one lane of travel. Motorists who must utilize Johnson Road should expect slowed traffic, traffic backups and large equipment being operated.

“If traveling along Johnson Road during this project, please adhere to the additional construction zone signage, maintain a safe traveling distance between other vehicles, limit the distractions within your vehicle and SLOW DOWN! If possible, motorists are encouraged to avoid Johnson Road during the project and to seek alternate routes.

“Weather permitting, the entire project is expected to be completed by July 4.”

Also, because of the Johnson Road work, culvert replacement on U.S. 35 between CR-450N and CR-525W has been delayed until July 5. That project should last 2 to 3 weeks.

Please remember that repaving is not considered finished until the road is lined with reflective paint!
