Aug. 8, 1918 — A dispenser of a remedy for killing lice, selling his concoction to farmers, is wanted. He drove a Ford to LaCrosse, traded it for a Maxwell, and then traded it for another Ford which turtled.

Aug. 8, 1968 — Thirty-six models representing LaPorte merchants will stroll the downtown on Friday sporting straw hats and carrying posters with names of stores in a parade sponsored by the chamber of commerce.

Aug. 8, 1993 — In the first half of 1993, 34 dog bites have been reported to LaPorte County Police and 26 to LaPorte City Police.

Aug. 8, 2008 — “Pineapple Express,” “Step Brothers,” “The Dark Knight” and “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” are showing at the LaPorte Cinema. Shows before 6 p.m. are $1.
