Aug. 9, 1968 — Richard M. Nixon uses the term “America” or “Americans” 94 times in delivering his 23-page acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.

Aug. 9, 1993 — A Utah woman has her 200th great-grandchild. She also has 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Aug. 9, 2008 — More than 50 years of husks and kernels has Ed Burek’s local family farm seeing green.
