Aug. 10, 1918 — A dispatch from the Picardy battle front says the allies are wreaking havoc behind the enemy lines, where the utmost confusion reigns.

Aug. 10, 1968 — Rep. Richard Roudebush was in a light plane crash while en route home from the Republican National Convention and, like Sens. Birch Bayh and Edward Kennedy, he will live.

Aug. 10, 1993 — LaPorte Bank & Trust Co., a locally owned and operated institution since 1917, announces to employees a pending acquisition.

Aug. 10, 2008 — Padraig Harrington becomes only the fourth player to win the British Open and PGA Championship in the same year.
