Take a look at the newly renovated Beechwood Clubhouse

Beechwood Pro Kyle Cashmer slices (in a good way) through the grand-opening ribbon at the renovated Beechwood Clubhouse. To his left is LaPorte Mayor Mark Krentz.

Visitors explore the improved Chalik Pavilion just outside the clubhouse.

Nearly 50 people gathered to watch Beechwood Golf Pro Kyle Cashmer demonstrate his ability to slice.

With little effort, Cashmer sliced his way through the ribbon during the ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicated the newly renovated Beechwood Golf Course Clubhouse on Aug. 16, 2018. The yearlong, $600,000 project to upgrade the 68-year-old clubhouse included: a pitched metal roof; new heating and cooling system; men’s and women’s handicapped-accessible bathrooms on the main floor; new flooring; energy-efficient LED lighting; removal of the old, dark paneling and installation of drywall and paint; new cabinets and countertops; and painting of the exterior.

This is the first major renovation to the clubhouse since the 1950s, and follows recent installation of a new irrigation system on the course. All of the work is being funded by a LaPorte Redevelopment Commission bond. The 18-hole Beechwood Golf Course, designed by William Diddle, was created in the early 1930s and donated to the City of LaPorte by the Fox family, the same family responsible for creation of the Civic Auditorium and Fox Park.

Beechwood is an underappreciated gem. A quality designed golf course that over the past 2 seasons has moved to a new level, thanks Carlos and crew, now matched by the quality of clubhouse area that Kyle Cashmere, a high quality PGA professional, and his staff are worthy of. The Chalik pavillion is also one of the best in the state. LaPorte should be proud of this fabulous public offering.
