With a backdrop including two bulldozers and a backhoe, ground was officially broken for the new LaPorte Hospital Thursday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2018. The new $125 million, 200,000-square-foot hospital will be located north of State Street between Tyler and Teegarden streets. During Thursday’s ceremony, hospital CEO Ashley Dickinson said, “This is a long awaited day and I can tell you it is worth it.” LaPorte mayor Mark Krentz spoke of the importance of keeping the hospital located in the city and its positive economical impact. Other keynote speakers were Mark Kosior, LaPorte Hospital Board of Trustees; Tommy Mislenkov, M.D., LaPorte Hospital Medical Staff; and Rev. Raymond Francis, Director of Spiritual Care – LaPorte Hospital.
