From the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office:

This week loyal supporters of the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office visited with an annual donation and gifts for our K9 program and our dogs. William and Linda Lutz, residents of Knox, came to the sheriff’s office with a monetary donation as well as sleeves of tennis balls for the department’s four dogs: Argo, Bosco, Hokie and Jager.

Mr. Lutz is a United States Air Force veteran who served as a K9 handler in Vietnam. During his tours, he had three service companions, two of which were killed in action. With a soft spot in his heart for K9 service dogs, Mr. Lutz is helping to keep the memory of his dogs alive through donations to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office K9 program.

Members of the sheriff’s office enjoy the annual visits from Mr. Lutz and his family and thank him for his service to our country and support of the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office K9 program. Both Argo and Bosco were purchased with funds that were donated by supportive citizens, community organizations and businesses that are helping us to help others. All funds donated to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office K9 program are held in a donation account that is controlled by the LaPorte County Auditor’s Office and used specifically for the department’s K9 needs.
