LaPorte girls cross country takes 1st at 19-team Culver Invitational; boys take 11th place

The cool temps sparked some great performances by the Lady Slicers, with 11 girls running season bests times, at the Culver Invitational Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018.  The Girls finished 1st among 19 teams in the Open Division for the 2nd year in a row.

Rachel Gerick led the way with 4th place while Shelby Riehle was 7th and Sierra Beach 9th.

New Prairie finished 6th and Michigan City 18th in the open event. Besides LaPorte, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard was the only other team in double digits with an 86 for 2nd place.

LPHS Boys Cross Country

The Slicer Boys Cross Country team ran to an 11th-place finish and 239 combined points in the Open Race competition at the Culver Invitational in the 18-team field. Leading the way was a personal best performance from Sam Bell with a 28th-place finish at 17:45, and a 39th-place finish from Jacob Rabideau at 18:02. Finishing up the scoring for LaPorte were Sean Wilson (43/18:10), Jeremy Groth (53/18;18), and Remi Cernel (76/18:46). New Prairie won the boys competition with a total score of 57.

In the Reserve race, the Slicers earned two top-50 performances from Caden Collette (41/19;50) and Graham Foglesong (42/19:52).
