Come and see how the fields used to be prepared during the LaPorte County Draft Horse Association’s Old-Fashioned Horse Plow Day on Sunday, Oct. 28, starting at 10 a.m.

This year’s event will be held at the John and Karel Dreessen Farm on U.S. 35 (2 miles north of U.S. 30 or 4 miles south of U.S. 6; on west side of U.S. 35 up a long driveway).

At this free event, watch these beautiful, powerful animals, weighing up to about 2,000 pounds apiece, power old-fashioned plows through the soil. Learn about the tack they don to do the job and marvel at the size of their hooves that help them plod through the fields.

The day will also feature horse-drawn hayrides. Refreshments will be available for sale.

There is no rain date.
