The Slicers football team played their last regular-season home game Friday night, Sept. 28, 2018, as the Crown Point Bulldogs came into town and dampened the homecoming mood. LaPorte came up short at the end, 24-21. However, a bright spot came at halftime when Elmer Varro (FFA nominee) was crowned homecoming king and Riley Ott (Interact Club nominee) was crowned queen. Second runners-up were Alex Lopez and Chloe Cloutier, and 3rd runners-up were Preston Krause and Alaura Shuble.

LaPorte came so close to gaining big yardage in the last series of the game. Crown Point defender Railaun Cosey gets a fingertip on a pass to LaPorte’s Isaac Alexander, knocking the ball away to spoil a sure reception …

Alexander fought mightily to get control of the ball …

… but it ended up just out of his reach.
