Oct. 3, 1918 — Turkey surrenders unconditionally to the allies.

Oct. 3, 1968 — A three-year-old boy dies of a broken neck and head injuries when he is hit by a car while darting across Johnson Road because he wanted to play longer instead of coming in to supper.

Oct. 3, 1993 — About 20 local health care workers see photos of patients of domestic violence at a seminar at the LaPorte Holiday Inn.

Oct. 3, 2008 — When there is no means to pay for a funeral after a person dies, funeral homes, cemeteries and sometimes township trustees step in.
