Nearly 70 people turned out for LaPorte Hospital’s first Blow Away Breast Cancer rally Oct. 8, 2018. The rally took place at the hospital’s west side near the main entrance. The event was held to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Rev. Raymond Francis, director of spiritual care, began the event with prayer and was followed by comments from hospital CEO Ashley Dickinson and Dr. Krishna Pillai, radiologist and medical director of the hospital’s Women’s Imaging Center (an ACR Breast Center of Excellence). A pink Raise Awareness Find a Cure flag was hoisted while Dickinson read a mayoral proclamation. Following the ceremony, pink decorative Blow Away Breast Cancer pinwheels were “planted” in the landscape near the main entrance.
