Oct. 10, 1918 — There are widespread rumors that the German kaiser has abdicated.

Oct. 10, 1968 — A couple on Maple Garden Drive is arrested for allowing a walnut tree to be cut down on the city tree lawn in front of their house.

Oct. 10, 1993 — A staged massive collision was set up by county emergency workers and filmed for a scheduled prom-time debut at LaPorte County high schools.

Oct. 10, 2008 — About 4.4 million Hoosiers were registered to vote by last week, already breaking the record high of 4.2 million voters in 2004.
