Oct. 13, 1918 — Turkey asks President Wilson to restore peace between it and the allies.

Oct. 13, 1968 — A well known LaPorte educator for many years, Miss Frankie I. Jones, 70, dies. She was widely known for her social studies program in the educational field.

Oct. 13, 1993 — Local churches that also serve as polling places will keep that responsibility for the riverboat gambling referendum, although some pastors oppose the gambling proposal.

Oct. 13, 2008 — Through DNA, a Norwegian relative of Belle Gunness may help determine if the turn-of-the-century seductress really died in the farmhouse fire that supposedly claimed her life.
