Oct. 31, 1968 — People may practice on a voting machine before election day. There is nothing to it; just pull a lever.

Oct. 31, 1993 — Voters need to answer “Shall licenses be issued to permit riverboat gambling in LaPorte County?” with a yes or no. The ballot says nothing about taxes, jobs, crime, or morality.

Oct. 31, 2008 — The U.S. diabetes rate has doubled over the past 10 years.
