Nov. 1, 1918 — Washington is extremely confident that the world war, so far as actual fighting is concerned, will end during the current month.

Nov. 1, 1968 — It’s anybody’s guess as to what effect the halting of the bombing of North Vietnam will have on Tuesday’s election. Humphrey says little effect. Nixon and Wallace do not comment.

Nov. 1, 1993 — A woman is shot by a man while working in her yard on Wozniak Road. Police are preparing to use a canine unit and an airplane to search for the man.

Nov. 1, 2008 — Former LaPortean and Constitutional Party candidate Chuck Baldwin is on the presidential ballot in over 35 states, but Indiana is not one of them.
