One of the community’s favorite annual events is on the horizon. Tickets are now on sale for the 24th annual Holiday at the Pops Concert, which will take place Dec. 8 starting at 7 p.m. As is tradition, the historic Civic Auditorium will glow with holiday lights as the LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra and special guests entertain the crowd.

The Healthcare Foundation of LaPorte is proud to host this traditional event that ushers in the season with symphony selections to stir memories and dazzling performances by local artists.

Proceeds from the event benefit the foundation’s Healthy Children initiatives, including two special ones: a three-year, school-based prevention grant that will help schools implement substance use prevention programs, and creation of a coalition that will address low birthweight and infant mortality across LaPorte County.

Associate Conductor and Interim Artistic Director Charles Steck will lead the orchestra. Steck is a familiar face at Holiday at the Pops. He conducted the program in 2015 and has been a member of the orchestra since 1980.

Special guest artists for the 2018 concert are Mayor Mark and Mrs. Laura Krentz, Cripple Creek, Donna M. Mitchell, and The Singing Company of LaPorte County’s Children’s Chorus directed by Matthew Nelson.

Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase at the event.

Balcony tickets are on sale at holidaypopslaporte.org, and the cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. A limited number of $500 and $600 main-floor tables are still available; they can also be purchased on the website. Main-floor tickets sell out each year, so don’t wait!
