Nov. 7, 1918 — The stock market closes at 2:30 this afternoon following the circulation of an erroneous report that Germany had accepted the armistice terms of the allies and the United States.

Nov. 7, 1968 — President-elect Richard M. Nixon faces monumental tasks in rallying support from a country that gave him less than a majority of its votes and a Congress controlled by Democrats.

Nov. 7, 1993 — The South Shore says it may reroute its trains to stop at the proposed riverboat casino in Michigan City. Maybe they’ll call it the Gamblers’ Express.

Nov. 7, 2008 — Gil Pontius and his daughter Alexis Pontius-Jones sent letters to county retailers asking them to participate in United Way’s Building Community weekend.
