Learn more about the roles of township officials at Nov. 17 event

The League of Women Voters of LaPorte County and the LaPorte County Better Government Study Group are co-sponsoring an informational conference on township government on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex at Purdue University Northwest in Westville. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m.

Deborah Driskell, executive of the Indiana Township Government Association, will be the keynote speaker.

The conference is designed for township trustees and members of trustee boards as well as anyone who wants to learn more about the roles and duties of township government.

Topics will include:

*Things you really need to know about township government

*Keeping it legal while denying township assistance

*Update on merging townships

*Best practices for township government

*Questions and answers

There is no cost for attendees and advance registration is not required. Light refreshments will be served.
