Lloyd Curry, 1929-2009

   Lloyd F. Curry, 79, of LaPorte, died at 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, in his home.
   He was born May 30, 1929, in Benton Harbor, MI, to Clement and Venita (Sink) Curry.
   Mr. Curry worked at Howmet, LaPorte, for 25 years, retiring in 1990. He was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, LaPorte, where he helped whenever possible. Lloyd served honorably in the U.S. Marines and was a member of American Legion Post 83, LaPorte. Lloyd enjoyed golfing, bowling, pool, gardening, word find puzzles, woodworking and watching baseball and basketball.
   On Aug. 18, 1950, in LaPorte, he married Betty Lou Probst, who preceded him in death in 2007.
   Also preceding him in death were his parents, six sisters and four brothers.
   Surviving are one daughter, Katrina Curry of LaPorte; two sons, Terry (Cheryl) Curry and Timothy (Christina) Curry, both of LaPorte; two brothers, Ronnie Curry of Fort Wayne, IN, and Donzal Curry of Pineville, WV; three sisters, Nancy Gakle, Roslyn Cooley and Marilyn Cannon, all of LaPorte; eight grandchildren, Todd, April and Pam Curry, Sherry Haywood, Ralph Fitzpatrick, Amanda Moyao, Ashley Negrete, and Lora Heller; and 17 great-grandchildren.
   A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at First Church of the Nazarene, 2147 W. Ash St., LaPorte, with Pastor Dan McDonald officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the service at the church. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, where the LaPorte Honor Guard will conduct a military service.
