Wanda Loucks, 1934-2012

Loucks, Wanda Obit PhotoWanda Jean Loucks, 78, of Rolling Prairie, IN, died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born Feb. 4, 1934, in Oblong, IL, to Cloyce and Opal (Groves) O’Dell.

Wanda and her husband would winter in Harlingen, Texas, and she volunteered for the Hosts Program through the Harlingen school system. She was a member of Lamb’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where she helped in many capacities including the Good Shepherd Food Pantry. She also volunteered at LaPorte Hospital and with the 4-H program.

On Aug. 23, 1952, in LaPorte, she married William D. Loucks, who survives.

Also surviving are seven children, Tina Bernth, Neal (Juanita) Loucks, Jay (Lynn) Loucks and Sandy (Marvin) Messer, all of LaPorte, Kim (Burt) Bennett and Cindy (Mike) Miller, both of Rolling Prairie, and Dennis Whitman of Ft. Collins, CO; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Norma Rodgers of Michigan City, IN, and Ruth Hoskins of Doniphan, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James O’Dell.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Lamb’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Nate Loucks officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Posey Chapel Cemetery, LaPorte County. Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Lamb’s Chapel Love Fund, 6006 N. Fail Rd., LaPorte, IN 46350.

    Dear Bill and family, just heard about the passing of Wanda, and wanted to express our sympathy in her passing. We have a lot of Texas memories the many years that you were there…especially the volleyball olympic tournaments. I know that this is a rough time for the family, but the Lord will give you strength and guidance at this time.
