2 teens arrested for June 14 armed robbery in New Carlisle

Two teens from the Rolling Prairie/New Carlisle area have been arrested and charged with the June 14, 2012, armed robbery of the Marathon service station at U.S. 20 near New Carlisle.

Zachery Anderson, 19, and Christin Spriggs, 19, are each charged with robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, Class B felonies. The robbery occurred at 12:30 p.m. June 14 when an armed man entered the station, demanded money and took it, then fled in a vehicle.

Several tips led to the teens’ arrests, according to a LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department press release. On June 15, police obtained a search warrant for a suspect vehicle. On June 16, LaPorte Police Assistant Chief Julie Smith spotted the vehicle at a local business. Shortly thereafter the suspects were arrested at the business.
