LaPorte School Board candidate Elena Mrozinske offers her qualifications

I am Dr. Elena Mrozinske, and in the Nov. 8 election I’m asking for your support for a seat on the LaPorte School Board. I’m an educator and parent who is academically qualified, experienced, and committed to serving the LaPorte community.

As a Slicer graduate, I earned a PhD in Education and a Master’s in Social Work. My employment as an IU Northwest Professor and a Graduate Admissions Coordinator actively engages me in student affairs and curriculum development. I’m involved with the Indiana Department of Education to develop updated standards for school service professionals. Additionally, I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Addictions Counselor in private practice. I have received numerous awards for excellence in teaching, research, and writing. Previously I served as a School Social Worker successfully increasing parent/school partnerships. My early professional career included experiences as a CASA Director, a Residential Unit Therapist, a Director of a GED/Job Skills program, and a Program Coordinator for teen parents.

I’ve served in LaPorte through Junior Achievement with a nomination for Volunteer of the Year, Art Appreciation at Kingsbury Elementary, Hesston Steam Museum Education Committee, and was a LaPorte County Athena Award Nominee. I had the privilege of working as a co-founder of Leadership LaPorte County Youth and the Youth to Youth Grant program that continues to thrive. I served on the Leadership LaPorte County Board and continue on the South Shore Leadership Center Board of Directors. Currently I am on the LaPorte Human Rights Commission, participate on the Kesling Middle School advisory board for counselors, and am a member of Tri Kappa.

I’m committed to serve with ethical transparency. My decisions will be student-centered and rooted in the pride and passion of “Once a Slicer, Always a Slicer.”

Together we can build a successful education system. I humbly ask for your vote.

Elena Mrozinske
