Most kids don’t often have a chance to pet a chicken or a rabbit, learn about crop dusters and other innovative equipment used by farmers, or find out how their food is grown, all right here in LaPorte County.

Fourth graders from LaPorte schools as well as some county schools got that valuable chance during Ag Days Jan. 24 and 25, 2018. The days are annually sponsored by the LaPorte County Row Crop Food Producers Team and Purdue Extension-LaPorte County, and held at the LaPorte National Guard Armory.

Farmers, growers and other representatives of the ag industry presented short sessions for the kids, covering topics such as beef, traditional crops, dairy, alternative crops, crop protection, insects, poultry, rabbits, gardens, machinery, technology, and water quality.
