March 10, 1918 — LaPorte had a narrow escape from a cyclone. The roof of the Sommerfield home, 1108 Michigan Avenue, was lifted in one great sheet and hurled against a tree.

March 10, 1968 — The Vatican virtually scraps an old church law excommunicating Catholics who join the Order of Free Masons.

March 10, 1993 — Indiana University seniors Greg Graham, Matt Nover, Calbert Cheaney and Chris Reynolds hold the Big Ten trophy after winning the conference men’s basketball championship.

March 10, 2008 — Three Michigan City teenagers may be responsible for illegally killing as many as 15 deer, possibly by locating them from a vehicle with a handheld spotlight.
