Footlight Players to conduct free workshop for youths in June

The Footlight Players of Michigan City will be offering a Youth Workshop for children and young adults ages 10 through 17. The workshop will begin June 11 and run Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through June 21.

Instructors will be Robert W. Komendera, Lee Meyer, Laura Meyer and Emma Blanchard. The studies will include auditioning, stage presence, vocal and dance training, and character development. The sessions will end with a full dress rehearsal on June 22 and a full two-day run of an original musical-comedy entitled “The Death and Good Times of Julius Caesar, a Tragic Farce,” on Saturday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 24, at 2 p.m.

The instructors have had over 150 years of combined experience in community theater and are eager to share their craft with the young people of our community. Number of participants is limited to 30, so it is recommended to sign up early. The cut-off date for applications is June 1. All sessions and shows will be at The Footlight Theater, 1705 Franklin St., Michigan City.
