Three people were hurt in an accident on the Indiana Toll Road in LaPorte County at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018. The accident closed both eastbound and westbound lanes and caused a 6-mile-long backup on the Toll Road between Forrester and Goldring roads. Two medical helicopters transported two patients to nearby hospitals, and a third patient was transported by ambulance. The accident blocked westbound traffic, creating a line of parked vehicles over 6 miles long. Many motorists stood outside their vehicles and watched as the choppers arrived and transported the patients.
