Tim Neff, 1956-2018

Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, is handling the arrangements for the one and only Tim Neff of LaPorte, Indiana, who passed away on Friday, Sept. 14, surrounded by his loving family. Tim left behind his forever cherished daughters, Gretchen (Jeff) Skurla of Granger, Indiana, Alaina (Nathan) Smith of Three Oaks, Michigan, and Pam, who he showed the world to and saved from many near-death experiences.
Although time together was cut short, his grandchildren, Lauren, Wyatt, Xander and Braxton, will always remember their crazy pool days filled with ice cream and chili cheese Fritos, their special soup meals, finicky fashion and always their favorite candy in the dish.
He was born Oct. 28, 1956.
He is survived by his father Gene, and his siblings Jim (Kathy), Ted (Cheryl), and Gena (Kim), all of whom greatly admired and looked up to him (at least in his eyes). He had a multitude of nieces and nephews, all of whom enjoyed his attempts at corrupting them in the most positive of ways.
He is lucky enough to be joining his daughter Jenna, mom Gloria and nephew Brock in the hereafter.
Tim values, above all else, his family who will  miss his warped sense of humor, his sometimes valued opinions, frightening Christmas outfits, coffee in the mornings and spontaneous trips.
Our Rock and our Jester will forever be missed. His legacy, love of family, will live on forever through them.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, and again Thursday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bill Barnes officiating. Cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Turner Syndrome Society at www.turnersyndrome.org

My Mother and I were both so shocked and saddened to hear of Tim’s passing. He was such a nice man that helped me so much to obtain a mortgage during a muddy time in my life. Even after that he helped additional friends and family do the same. When my aging Mom had a question on property taxes he literally walked her down the sidewalk to the tax office and hooked her up with the right people to answer the questions. That type of kindness is never forgotten. I am so sorry for his family and Pam (whom I’ve known since I was a child). Blessings and comfort to you all.

Tim was my mentor. Years ago when I started in the mortgage industry, I processed for Tim. I always looked up to him and admired his love for his family and his job. He is the reason I am a loan officer today. I will greatly miss him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Was so very sorry to hear about Tim. I met Tim a long time ago when I was selling real estate. He was very personable with a great sense of humor. So sad; he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Pam and the family.
