Beulah Pych, 1921-2018

Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, LaPorte, is handling the arrangements for Beulah Pych, 97, of LaPorte, Indiana, who passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018.

Beulah was born April 18, 1921, in New Rome, Wisconsin, to the late Darrell and Clara (Fairbert) Overturf.

On September 13, 1947, in Chicago, Beulah married Theodore F. Pych, who preceded her on October 21, 1971.

Beulah was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaPorte. Her focus in life was service to others, having been the caregiver in her early days to mothers and their children in Chicago, for her husband during his battle with cancer, and her son, James, after a tragic accident that resulted in him being a paraplegic.  She dearly loved her children and grandchildren.  

Beulah is survived by a daughter, Janet (Vince) Schultz of LaPorte, Indiana; three sons, Theodore A. Pych, Michael (Christine Snyder) Pych, and James Pych, all of LaPorte, Indiana; four grandchildren, Traci (John) Savio, Renee Brainerd, Erica (Philip) Kurien and Lindsey (Amar) Pych; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harvey Overturf of Eagle River, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Smazal and June Scianna; and brothers, Kenneth, Wayne and Darrell Overturf.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, September 27, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, LaPorte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, September 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte. Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Reverend William O’Toole will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, LaPorte.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Ave., Valparaiso, IN 46383.

    Jan, Ted. Mike, and Jim-sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. I have fond memories of hanging around your place in the late 50s and early 60s with the bunch from tenth st school. most mothers were home in those years and there was usually a snack or Kool-Aid available. as with most mothers of the time they were not afraid to tell you right and wrong. they were GOOD days. you are all in my thoughts in the passing of a great lady.

    Dear Janet, Ted, Mike and Jim:
    We were saddened to hear about the death of Aunt Beulah. She will be remembered for all the great times we shared with her and all of you, our cousins. She has always been one special person thinking of others first even in her busiest moments. She always found the time to have a kind word and special prayers for everyone. You are in my thoughts and prayers .

    Jan,Teddy,Mike, & Jim, very sorry to hear of your loss.Seeing the photo of your mom brought back a lot of memories of good times with your family. One special one was how proud your mom was of her brand new red refrigerator. You’re in my prayers.
