Police check whereabouts of all 102 registered sexual predators in LP County; 3 found in noncompliance

In advance of Trick-or-Treat, local police organizations have conducted Operation Watchdog, during which officers checked on all 102 registered Sexually Violent Predators and Offenders Against Children in LaPorte County. All 102 of the county’s classified and registered predators/offenders were checked for their whereabouts and compliance. Three offenders were found to be noncompliant and arrest warrants are being sought for them. Two of the three have been identified as Sex Offenders and one is a Sexually Violent Predator.

The operation was conducted Oct. 24, with deputies from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, investigators from LaPorte and Michigan City Police, Michigan City Fugitive Apprehension Street Team (FAST), LaPorte County Drug Task Force, Indiana State Police, and U.S. Marshal’s Service participating.

As police stressed recently, parents should check the Sex Offender Registry (link at www.laportecountysheriff.com; go to Quick Links, then Search for Sex Offenders) to check the locations of local registered offenders.

“The sheriff’s office does an excellent job of ensuring that sex offenders reside where they have registered their home addresses, so it is crucial that our citizens visit our website to learn who the registered sex offenders are in our community and where they live,” Sheriff John Boyd said in a press release. “A unique feature to this OffenderWatch system is the ability to enter an address of a neighborhood that you plan on visiting before heading out for trick-or-treating, and determining the addresses that you should avoid.  We urge the public to be proactive and utilize this free tool to help keep your children and family safer this Halloween season.”

Just curious as to what will happen to the three offenders that are missing once found? Jail time? Slap on the wrist? House arrest? Hopefully something more severe.

Thank you for keeping up with these dispicable criminals that prey on the most innocent. Also, thanks for reminding all of us to check on their whereabouts too. Keep up the good work.
