Nov. 2, 1918 — The state board of health closing order as a result of the influenza epidemic expires at midnight. Churches will be open for services, picture houses will be bright with light, and schools will be opened.

Nov. 2, 1968 — Kathy Masterson is elected LPHS homecoming queen. First runner up is Dar Davis and second runner up is Pat Lashinis.

Nov. 2, 1993 — The county takes a gamble and votes yes on the riverboat referendum. Voter turnout was at 45 percent of registered voters, comparable to a strong presidential primary election.

Nov. 2, 2008 — Actor Sean “Rudy” Astin is scheduled to appear with Jill Long Thompson, Democratic candidate for governor, in LaPorte.
