Nearly 500 gather at Civic to salute local veterans at LaPorte ceremony

Nearly 500 community members of all ages gathered to honor those who served at the 31st annual Veterans Day Ceremony, sponsored by the Mayor’s Veterans Committee, at the LaPorte Civic Auditorium Nov. 12, 2018. Greg Baker of the VFW National Council was keynote speaker and music was provided by the LaPorte High School Wind Ensemble and Mixed Chorale, and Kesling Middle School’s 8th grade choir. Larry Pinkerton, chaplain of Vietnam Veterans Inc., gave the invocation and benediction.

During the ceremony, Pat Day was presented with a plaque recognizing her 25 years of service on the Mayor’s Veterans Committee. Also pictured are her husband, Paul, and State Rep. Jim Pressel.
