Nov. 17, 1918 — Brussels, the capital of Belgium, is now entirely free of Germans.

Nov. 17, 1968 — The Supreme Court agrees to examine the complaint of Adam Clayton Powell that the House improperly deprived him of his seat in the 90th Congress.

Nov. 17, 1993 — The flight attendants’ union goes on strike against American Airlines. The carrier says it intends to keep flying.

Nov. 17, 2008 — Eight men, including at least one suspect from LaPorte, are charged with stealing freight from trains in northern Indiana.
