Country star Sara Evans brings her sparkle to the Civic for a good cause

Country performer Sara Evans brightened a dreary night weatherwise with her touring show, “At Christmas,” on Nov. 25, 2018, at the Civic.

The venerable auditorium proved it still has the chops to stage a major show as spectacular lights and props glistened.

Evans performed for 90 minutes after opening acts Spencer Crandall and Brian Wheatbrook. The fundraising concert, brought to LaPorte by the Bethany Lutheran Church Foundation, will support that foundation’s community projects; next on its list is a community park/splash pad. The foundation has also been financially supportive of local police, fire and EMS.

This is the fourth country music artist brought to LaPorte by the foundation. Previous artists performing here were Randy Travis, Clint Black and Dylan Scott.

Mike’s photos below show: (first 4) Evans and her band performing; (5) Spencer Crandall on the Civic stage in a wash of green light; (6) Brian Wheatbrook singing; and (7) Evans’ playlist taped to the stage floor at her microphone.

Great Show !! Would have been nice to see a full house, though.

I have several friends who go to Bethany and I just wish they would have approached us with tickets. I feel sad we missed a good concert.

Betty, in defense of BLC, the concert was scheduled with pretty short notice, about three weeks back if I understood correctly. What’s New La Porte had a story posted about two weeks prior.
