County commission OKs funds for 7th EMS ambulance, crew

A message from the LaPorte County Emergency Medical Service Nov. 27, 2018:

“We have exciting news! We now have all of the pieces in place to add a 7th ambulance crew to our rotation. Last night (Nov. 26), the LaPorte County Council voted in favor of granting us the funding needed to add 6 additional employees to staff the 7th ambulance. The monies for the actual ambulance were graciously donated by an anonymous donor.

“We would like to thank the donor for the money to purchase the rig and the LaPorte County Commissioners and the County Council for their support of our service. Without their support, none of this would have come to fruition. We will be hiring 3 paramedics and 3 EMTs to staff this ambulance in the upcoming months. It is our intention to have this ambulance in service in the first half of 2019.

“If anyone would like to be considered for one of these positions, please apply online at laportecounty.org. Certification is due at the time of application for both the EMT and paramedic positions. We will also be hiring a couple of part time EMTs.

“This is an exciting time for us, and we look forward to the challenges ahead. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support of LaPorte County Emergency Medical Service. It is truly an honor to serve our community.”
