Galloway leaves city council to become clerk-treasurer

Roger Galloway

4th Ward LaPorte City Councilman Roger Galloway has a new post after being chosen at a GOP caucus to replace the late Clerk-Treasurer Teresa Ludlow.

Ludlow, who was clerk-treasurer for 20 years, died Sept. 30, 2018, after a long fight against cancer.

Galloway’s resignation from the council is effective immediately. He has been sworn in to his new office by LaPorte County Clerk Kathy Chroback. The GOP will now hold another caucus to choose Galloway’s replacement on the council. He has been 4th Ward councilman since 2012.

A lifelong LaPorte resident, Galloway is a retired Teamster, a veteran of Vietnam, an elected official of the VFW and a member of LaPorte Missionary Church. He and his wife Linda have 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren.

“I have 100% confidence that Roger Galloway will head the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office with integrity and a commitment to our community,” Mayor Mark Krentz said in a press release.

Galloway finished 2nd to Krentz among 8 candidates at the August 2017 GOP caucus to replace former Mayor Blair Milo.
