In lieu of Giving Tuesday this year, Qubit Networks and New Age Telecom collectively donated $10,000 to the Pax Center in LaPorte. Qubit Networks and New Age Telecom are sister companies owned by Ryan and Sarah Seaburg. In the past, the two companies have worked community meals for the Pax Center, but this year they wanted to do more.

“We really wanted to support the Pax Center’s mission, and we have such a strong appreciation for the resources they provide for our local community,” Qubit owner Ryan Seaburg said.

Seaburg hopes the contribution will help fund one of Pax’s most recent projects, the Brighton Street Green Space. This project consists of turning the former Lenick’s Dairy property into a green space for the community to use and enjoy. The Brighton Street Green Space will feature an Educational Resource Center, an urban orchard, and plenty of garden space for community members.

Nate Loucks, State Street Church pastor, said, “Qubit Networks and New Age Telecom are community leaders in philanthropy. Their commitment to doing good business is matched by their commitment to doing good for their community. It’s encouraging and inspiring to see. We are honored to partner with them now and in the future.”

The Pax Center is a local food-providing organization in downtown LaPorte committed to engaging the negative impacts of poverty, hunger and loneliness in LaPorte County. The center also hosts a children’s garden club and manages Jackson Street Community Garden. In cooperation with its parent organization, State Street Community Church, the Pax Center organizes a monthly “Discussion over Dinner” event — a free, live experience open to all where people come together over a meal to listen, learn, and have dialogue over matters directly affecting LaPorte County. In addition to these projects, the Pax Center continues to maintain its food pantry, community meals, food rescue in local schools, and a clothes closet.
