Karyl Machek-Feikes seeks 2nd term as 2nd Ward LaPorte City Council member

Republican Karyl Machek-Feikes has announced her candidacy for LaPorte’s 2nd Ward City Council seat. Machek-Feikes has been serving the 2nd Ward and the City of LaPorte for five years.

The 2019 municipal primary is May 7; candidates may declare their candidacy for the primary through Feb. 8. The 2019 general election is Nov. 5.

Machek-Feikes is a lifelong resident of LaPorte, graduating from LaPorte High School. “I have been a resident of the City of LaPorte all my life and want to see this community grow and improve,” she said in a news release.

Machek-Feikes says her most rewarding experience on the council has been helping citizens with problems and finding solutions. She is excited to shape the future of LaPorte. “I believe we are moving in a positive direction and will continue to do so.”

Machek-Feikes has been Chairperson of the Traffic Commission for 5 years and has served as the City Council’s representative to the Park Board and NewPorte Landing Redevelopment Corporation. She is office manager for Mitch Feikes Builders Inc. and Sagamore Leasing.  She has four grown children and stepchildren, living in LaPorte, Rolling Prairie, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
