On Jan. 8, 2019, LaPorte Police Officers Brian Favia, Robert Hagler and Marcos Loza received lifesaving awards for their actions taken in September 2018. They assisted a suicidal male inside a home that was filled with natural gas. They pulled him from the home and rendered aid until he was transported by medics.

Detective Vincent Bowman received an accommodation regarding a recent armed robbery at the Mini Mart on Lincolnway. Bowman, with limited information, was able to work the case and take the suspect into custody the same day.

The LaPorte Police Department also acknowledged relatively new 4-footed Officers, Dallas and Kerr. Officer Dallas successfully tracked a wanted person who fled from officers on Jan. 8, 2019, during the afternoon shift. Officer Kerr successfully tracked a person who fled from the midnight shift during a domestic disturbance investigation. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident.
