Jan. 11, 1919 — Three local men are given a charter for $100,000 for a tractor plant known as the Pony Tractor Company.

Jan. 11, 1969 — South Bend Central High basketball coach Jim Powers fights back tears after his Bears blow a 10-point lead and bow 85-84 in overtime to LaPorte High. He has 88 losses and 168 victories.

Jan. 11, 1994 — Local taxpayers are picking up much of the tab for a state-mandated program that subsidizes textbook rental fees for poorer children.

Jan. 11, 2009 — Potential buyers and real estate agents travel through LaPorte on a tour of foreclosed buildings.
