Jan. 12, 1919 — The civil war which has been raging in Berlin comes to an end.

Jan. 12, 1969 — Alma Szawara, LaPorte auto license branch supervisor, turns the keys over to Owen L. Travis, former assistant fire chief.

Jan. 12, 1994 — Tonya Harding’s bodyguard says he, Harding’s ex-husband and two other men set up the attack that injured Olympic figure skating rival Nancy Kerrigan.

Jan. 12, 2009 — Tribal police report that a man’s handgun accidentally fired while he was at the New Buffalo casino. Patrons need to understand that it is against tribal law to carry concealed weapons there.
