Feb. 2, 1919 — There is a possibility of a nationwide bread famine.

Feb. 2, 1969 — An Eastern Air Lines plane carrying 78 passengers and seven crew members was hijacked north of Jacksonville, Fla., and ordered to Cuba. It was the year’s ninth hijacking of an American airliner.

Feb. 2, 1994 — The Indiana Board of Education places 16 schools on probation. One of those schools is in Westville and eight are in Michigan City.

Feb. 2, 2009 — The drawing of a stegosaurus by 17-year-old Karen Ebert appears in the syndicated comic “Alley Oop.”
