Feb. 5, 1919 — Four hundred thousand men will be kept on the River Rhine until the peace treaties are signed.

Feb. 5, 1969 — Central Junior High, in the building that served as LaPorte High School for nearly 40 years, will be renamed Paul F. Boston Junior High School.

Feb. 5, 1994 — The Door Prairie Museum on U.S. 35 South will house automobiles of the Peter C. Kesling Foundation and Kesling’s personal cars. It will be open to the public starting Sept. 1.

Feb. 5, 2009 — A train almost collides with a snow plow that got stuck on the tracks south of Westville. The driver escaped the vehicle when the gates began to go down.
