Feb. 6, 1919 — America’s first city-wide general strike is called in Seattle. Industry is at a standstill. Street cars are in their barns, restaurants are closed, and the streets are clogged with idle men.

Feb. 6, 1969 — Ground fire downs the 1,000th U.S. helicopter lost in South Vietnam during the war.

Feb. 6, 1994 — The LaPorte girls basketball team celebrates its third straight Rogers Sectional title. They advance to the Valparaiso Regional.

Feb. 6, 2009 — Indiana residents can hit the Internet to file their state income taxes with I-File.
